KAKAR CENTRE FOR PSYCOANALYSIS & CULTURE
At the Kakar Centre for Psychoanalysis and Culture (KCPC), we champion a global approach to psychoanalysis by fostering cultural awareness, supporting innovative projects, and building a vibrant community.

ABOUT
We believe that psychoanalysis, rooted in European thought, must evolve to include frameworks that reflect the lived experiences of people in non-Western societies. Through public events and lectures, we raise awareness of cultural psychoanalysis, encouraging critical engagement with its foundational assumptions.
Beyond dialogue, KCPC actively funds research and community projects that bring myths, stories, artworks, and parenting practices from different cultures into mainstream psychoanalysis. Through our research fellowship program, we support scholars and practitioners in reimagining psychoanalytic theory and practice in ways that are more inclusive and globally relevant.
As an incubator of ideas, KCPC also connects pioneering projects with funders who align with our mission. By tracking the impact of these initiatives, we aim to foster greater representation of Indian and international perspectives in psychoanalysis.
More than an institution, KCPC is a growing community of individuals deeply invested in the intersection of psychoanalysis and culture in India. Our retreats and gatherings provide a space for meaningful discussions, collaborations, and the exploration of new ideas. Through these efforts, we are shaping a more expansive, culturally attuned future for psychoanalysis.
